JOYCE MEYER's book. For those able to read English, is a must read book.

“The Battle Belongs to the Lord – Defeating life’s struggles through worship”. ( Harrison House Tulsa OK, 1982). A very suggestive title of a fascinating book written by a woman, a missionary, a preacher, a wife, a church leader, and  a human being deeply involved with the Word of God. Joyce Meyer is a known woman of God, for whom personal commentaries are unnecessary.  And at this book she extensively makes use of the word of God, within a dense and abundant way, as to say that there’s no other path in life to manifest the love and obedience to God except by following what the Word says. She begins with a profound reference to the Word of God to express what the book is about, that is, showing  us that fear and love do not coexist in fact, but except in an atmosphere of total lack of knowledge of the Word, by telling what 1st. John stresses in 4:8.  “There is not fear in love” says John, and Joyce Meyer’s preoccupation is to make possible a substantially contextualized meaning of the word by adding a subtle explanation of it, as to add a supportive understanding. That goes around all her book, filled with the most precious amount of verses. As a master in her field, she teaches us how to cope with fear, as to show us that there is no reason to tremble, since our every day battle belongs to our Lord Jesus Christ. The book also outlines very uplifting and meaningful thoughts about the Word in the field of daily battle fought by Christians, when presenting a sort of substantial contents drawn from the Word of God, like, say, step by step, it does show how to win the daily struggle against fear.  Part one shows the contents of The Battle Belongs to the Lord, followed by part Two, Transformed through Worship, where in both, the Word is everywhere the sword of knowledge guiding us towards victory. This is a very insightful reading, recommended for those in search for powerful ways to walk the path of daily encouragement with the Word at hand and inside our hearts. IBVN Library has this single volume of her book in English.

WHAT THE WORLD IS SAYING ABOUT THE BIBLE. 

Malcolm Gladwell wrote this book "David and Goliath - Underdogs, Misfits, and the Art of Battling Giants" (Little, Brown and Company, USA 2013) certainly thinking about some insights that he drew from the Bible book of 1 Samuel 16:7.  Chapter One says it all, why little David defeated the powerful giant Goliath. Mr. Gladwell openly interpreted the Bible's account to show us that not so little and troubled things have an outstanding other side, an impact that hides a powerful secret, bringing light to an unusual discourse. It's a must read book especially for those troubled by burdens and dilemmas, with an eye on writers known by a non theological approach. 

 " He tries something really difficult; change the way one can view the his or her own life and world. Gladwell's task is to take things that are universally seen as weaknesses and turn them on their heads and show that anything can be used as an advantage. And that no one is ever a lost cause. Horrible experiences that arise from developing dyslexia, losing one's parents as a young child, to even enduring relentless bombing in the World War II, can galvanize an individual or even a larger community into doing extraordinary things. If these burdens can be helpful and empowering to the countless examples that Gladwell uses then perhaps if we all never give up when dealing with our own personal obstacles we can thrive as well. This book is very  uplifting and inspiring without ever making light of any of the obstacles that are discussed and that is perhaps the most impressive part of what Gladwell is attempting."  Rick C. PRESENTE DIÁRIO - Edição América do Norte. Publicação da RTM Publicações, décima sétima edição. O livro de leituras devocionais diárias. O livro nos foi apresentado pelo Pr. Eliel Pinheiro, da SEPAL Missionaires USA/Brazil,  por ocasião das comemorações de fim de Ano na IBVN, e direcionado em especial ás Igrejas Batista Vida Nova em Massachusetts. A capa mostra a foto da familia de nosso pastor fundador, Pr. Jose de Faria Costa Jr. Trata-se de um devocional para ser lido, refletido e meditado diariamente, por apresentar textos e comentários escritos por autores brasileiros, aos quais se juntam ainda autores canadenses e um alemão. Todos certamente pastores e autores cristãos dedicados ao ministério SEPAL. O livro apresenta 365 textos devocionais para serem lidos diariamente durante todo o ano de 2014, a começar pelo título ANO BOM, em que o autor nos  direciona na trilha a ser seguida durante o ano, na Palavra de Deus, com referencias bíblicas motivadoras e com textos para serem lidos e meditados. O propósito original do livro foi o de ser presenteado a convidados e novos convertidos ao Ministério Vida Nova, mas cujas intenções vão além deste propósito, quais sejam, contribuir para a formação cristã/teológica dos membros ativos da IBVN. Faça bom proveito, aderindo ás propostas originais do projeto e lendo um capítulo diariamente. Á leitura biblica sugerida no primeiro capitulo, Jeremias 29.10-14, segue o texto de Filipense 3.14 - "Prossigo para o alvo, a fim de ganhar o premio do chamado celestial de Deus".

“ A FACE OCULTA DO AMOR – Desmascarando o espirito da sensualidade.” Publicação da Editora Jocum. O livro escrito pelo Pr. Marcos de Souza Borges, faz importantes revelações a respeito das relações de interação entre homem e mulher durante, antes e depois do casamento, á luz da Palavra de Deus. E o tema abordado como foco principal é a questão da sensualidade humana, - sem conexão com o homoxessualismo - tanto nas relações sexuais entre casais, tanto dentro do contexto social, mas sempre levadas á luz da perspectiva e do conhecimento bíblicos. Fato revelado desde o capitulo primeiro, onde os livros de Provérbios 21:17  e o de Ezequiel 16:49, ainda que no final do capitulo, determinam uma crescente sequencia temática para os outros capitulos. Ostensivamente, o livro passa a mostrar referencias biblicas guiando o autor na abordagem de seus temas principais, o que se torna positivo para o autor, tanto quanto para o leitor que certamente busca no livro respostas teologicas e doutrinárias ao tema da sensualidade humana. Os capitulos seguintes definem temas biblicos ligados ao desenrolar do discurso, tais como pecado, concupiscencia, atração e intenção, etc., ate atingir um climax no capitulo 3, a partir do qual o tema central do livro, sensualidade, começa a ser realmente desmacarado, e definido como pecado a partir do instante em que adquire caracteristicas idolátricas. Há no entanto, no livro, a necessidade de se esclarecer certas expressões e conceitos que por sua complexidade, permanecem um tanto quanto vagas. Expressões como “pulverização da sensualidade” logo á pagina 12, no primeiro capitulo, alertam para a necessidade de uma leitura mais atenciosa e cuidadosa do livro.   Também observa-se claramente que existe uma crescente complexidade dos temas abordados á medida que o discurso avança em direção ao seu desfecho. Isto também vai exigir do leitor mais atenção e uma leitura mais reflexiva, especialmente a partir do capitulo 6, em diante, onde os temas adquirem uma abordagem mais dinamica e uma evidente densidade, e onde o numero de referencias biblicas vai exigir do leitor uma habilidade maior. A propósito, recomendamos comparar todas as referencias citadas pelo autor, com uma tradução mais atualizada, como a NVI em Portugues, para que referencias como a de Romanos 9:31,32 – citada no livro á página 133 - possam ser equiparadas e melhor avaliadas, pois o autor não cita, talvez por esquecimento, qual a versão biblica usada para as referencias citadas no livro. Mas, de modo geral o livro “A FACE OCULTA DO AMOR – Desmascarando o espirito da sensualidade”, é elucidativo, exclarecedor, mas apresenta em função do tema abordado uma certa complexidade, e isto poderá exigir do leitor uma atenção mais redobrada durante sua leitura.  No entanto, a questão mais fundamental permanece para ser respondida pelos leitores: é a sensualidade o dilema velado que se oculta dentro do amor entre homem e mulher, ou o amor entre ambos deve ser almejado  em sua plenitude naquilo que se encontra velado pela Palavra de Deus, principalmente em livros como o Cantares de Salomão, e que para muitos ainda permanece oculto?

O JOIO e o TRIGO.

E aconteceu que no tempo apropriado para a seifa do trigo,

Estava tambem presente entre ele,

Espalhado esparsamente e mantendo-se como que oculto

Pela aparencia de bom fruto e de boa semente, o JOIO,

Cujas folhas eram de mesma natureza, de porte vistoso, e

Que em tudo se assemelhava ás folhas amarelo douradas

The Weed and the Wheat.

And it so happened that in the appropriate time for the wheat harvest,

Also present amongst it, sparsely spread and keeping itself hidden,
Pretending to be good fruit and good seed, the weed,
The leaves of which are of the same type, of garish bearing, and that
